Royal Trux
When a "Twin Infinitives" is worth entire discographies. more
Osanna -Palepoli
The Alpha and Omega of Neapolitan Rock, on the podium of the greatest prog-Italian albums of all time: a blend of progressive, jazz nuances, popular Neapolitan music, and references dear to VDGG. Two exceptional suites on the history of ancient and ancestral Naples. A work of art. "Oro caldo cola da una tromba ormai, l'ombra di una nota fredda, muta esce da lei." 10. more
Royal Trux
The 5 stars just for giving us gems of toxic disarray like "Royal Trux '92," the wonderful "Cats And Dogs," and the excellent "Thank You." Ah, well, yeah, I'm sick, I love "Twin Infinitives." If Blues means devil's music, they are the quintessence of Blues. Fans of Scott Henderson et similia, please abstain... more
Carla Thomas -King & Queen
Eloquent title... Otis and Carla: two stars. Produced by Stax Records. more
Sodom -Code Red
Here are the bad and monolithic Sodom from the late '80s. This is a quality CD with classic old thrash. Personally, in several passages, I notice a bit of Slayer's influence as well. The initial pairing of the title track and "What Hell Can Create" is noteworthy. The overall level remains quite good throughout. (7.5) more
Sodom -'Til Death Do Us Unite
Disc that brings Sodom back from the previous (and not good) MIB. A more compact album, with some memorable hits like "Fuck The Police," "Polytoximaniac," and the German "Schwerter Zu Pflugscharen." Not a masterpiece, but a full-length reboot for the Teutonic band. (7) more
Disturbed
A good nu-metal band with all the limits of the genre, they've created something nice; if you like the genre, they're worth a listen. more
Porcupine Tree -The Incident
Epitaph of one of my favorite bands. Not exactly successful, dull in some parts, but a bit generously I give it the third ball, thanks for everything. more
Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds -Your Funeral... My Trial
Transition album, not easy to define. The lengthy "The Carny" stands out. more
Bandabardò -Il circo mangione
He received an award for Best Debut Album. more
Pink Floyd
Even though in different ways, I have loved them from the acidic voice of "Astronomy Domine" to the heartfelt solo of "High Hopes". Obviously, they have also released some indigestible albums ("A Momentary Lapse of Reason", or the recent "The Endless River"), but they are merely invisible caricatures, unable to tarnish masterpieces like "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn," "A Saucerful of Secrets," or "The Dark Side of the Moon." Timeless. more
Marisa Monte -Mais
Vocally gifted... more
Airbourne
Life is tough as a clone, especially if you’re born in the same place and sound just like someone who casts a shadow over you; and if that shadow comes from a band called AC/DC, convincing others becomes really difficult. They are good, and some of their songs are noteworthy, but will that be enough to stand out? more
The Headhunters -Survival of the Fittest
Genre Jazz-Funk, Jazz Fusion with psychedelic touches. more
Damien Rice -9
A simple piano sound introduces "9 Crimes," a track that marks the beginning of the second album by the Irish singer-songwriter; just a few seconds in, Lisa's voice arrives, soft, whispered but capable, as always, of enchanting. It's Damien's turn to delve into the heart of the song, with his equally beautiful voice, embarrassingly rich in its warm depth: the track rises in tone, with the addition of some strings, maintaining all its icy beauty in a spine-tingling finale. There are still "9" songs to go... more
Theory of a Deadman
For years and through many albums, they had a clear Nickelback stamp, trying to produce, however, many more slow tracks than the latter, which might sell better but ultimately leave little impact apart from rare exceptions. Then "Savages" came along, and I hope it's the beginning of a characterization for this band. more
Alter Bridge
There's not much to say; they may not be innovators, but they definitely make a noise and carry on that simple, easy-to-listen-to rock that made the fortune of bands like Audioslave before them. Myles has an exceptional voice that sometimes overshadows everything. more
Hoelderlin -Hölderlin's Traum
The tree of life in Continental Acid Folk, a vivid and stern Teutonic link between the Canterbury scene of Spirogyra and the baroque Neapolitan school of Saint Just. If I had been 18 in 1970, I would have wanted to record an album like this, only to disappear afterward. more
Damien Rice
Never before in these chilly autumn days did I need his Music to warm my heart, soul, and mind. Damien has returned: the purity... more
