Beautiful album that offers the first ethnic turns for the band. However, it suffers from the same flaw as all the albums post-84: beautiful and refined music, but seasoned with a certain underlying coldness and lacking the brilliant flair of the earlier records. Ups and downs, therefore. Captivating but at times a bit tiring. more

We are at the final act of a Musical Story that began in Washington in 1987; an album once again exemplary, vibrant, instantly recognizable from the first instrumental notes. I will never tire of repeating the following: personally, one of the few bands with a perfect career, always excellent in composition. Consistent, concrete, independent: my eternal gratitude and brotherly respect to Ian, Guy, Joe, Brendan. How I miss you!!!...FULL DISCLOSURE... more
Skilled, extremely skilled in reinterpreting with his Music the tradition of Rock-Soul from Hendrix, Prince, Sly & The Family Stone, etc... etc... "Let Love Rule," "Mama Said," and "Are You Gonna Go My Way," albums that I appreciated and still listen to with great pleasure. He hasn't reached these sumptuous levels again, but I always and nonetheless respect him... FIELDS OF JOY... more

An absolute masterpiece for me, a sparse and simple album but with a tremendous impact. My favorite Kaukonen, with exceptional guitar technique and style. "Genesis" but not only, among his originals and interpretations of old traditionals and old blues, a showcase of great tracks... more

I have had great respect for Ben since his early days; he has always managed to navigate seamlessly through Rock, Blues, Folk, Reggae, Soul, and Gospel. With excellent results, especially in the nineties...POWER OF THE GOSPEL... more
Even drier and rougher, the second album by Korn deserves top marks as well. The cover is disturbing: the image is still that of a child, this time in front of a "deforming" mirror. The sound is a wall of unlimited power, diving into a Metal-Rap contaminated by industrial, dark, hardcore craziness. "Good God" is a masterful example of this, with the warped and schizophrenic voice that devastates body and mind. From here on, the career goes into free fall...KILL YOU... more
Attention, this is not folk metal, but simply ambient folk. It is an alternative experiment by the Finnish band, quite interesting indeed. It tells the tale of a gloomy yet whimsical night in a dark forest in Scandinavian lands. A must-listen for all lovers of folk music. Recommended for listening during the night hours or in the twilight of sleep. more
Among Francesco's most direct works. We are far from the complexity of the challenging albums of the past (Viva l'Italia above all). Fresh and spontaneous songs, from the sweet nursery rhyme "Volavola" to the Dylan-esque twists of "Ogni giorno di pioggia che Dio manda in terra." Also worth mentioning is "L'infinito" with its symphonic harmonies suspended between melancholy and peace: a touching tribute to the solitary walker. more
Great album. Not a masterpiece but adrenaline-pumping and engaging. Fun is the Spartan gospel "Luxury." more
Heralds of the Liverpool renaissance at the dawn of the 80s, Ian McCulloch and his bandmates experienced the transition from post-punk to a highly evocative and melodically impactful psychedelic pop. more
