Masterpiece...a fucking masterpiece...epic beyond belief, the title track is historical, and the rest is no less. Every now and then, I find myself, in the shower, belting out Painkiller (even though I nail about 3/4 of the notes, XD) more
Some tracks that are not particularly inspired are present on the album, but when there are also songs like the title track, "A National Acrobat," and "Spiral Architect," everything else fades into the background... So screw the fillers, 5 and that's it! more
Perfect... damn perfect. My all-time favorite heavy metal album, which forcefully brings Randy Rhoads into true heavy metal, and marks the rebirth of Ozzy Osbourne. more
A flow that makes skyscrapers tremble more
Thanks to the legendary producer Guy Stevens (the one from The Clash, to be clear), those two crazy guys, Michael English and Nigel Waymouth, partially repent for that extreme and almost carnival-like, kaleidoscopic allegory and the LSD-like evanescence of their first work, and they record this second album with their usual lineup of countless guests and contributors - including the legendary Brian Jones. It enjoys less fame and celebrity than its predecessor, but in truth, it’s one of the best of British psychedelia from those years, also due to its greater completeness. It’s a more electric work, which quite consciously looks towards the Texan psychedelia of that era rather than the Eastern imagery, which was somewhat 'out of fashion' for that historical moment, and yet it’s a great album.

Recorded live at the end of 2015 at Locanda Atlantide (Rome) and released by Area Pirata Rec, the latest album by the Italians Big Mountain County is a reimagining of the psychedelic garage sounds of the sixties. However, the band doesn't shy away from veering off the main path as if seeking inspiration in other genres like punk and grunge, deviations that ultimately weigh on the final product and on my personal appreciation. more
It is impossible to attempt to provide an exact definition of this work, a fundamental chapter in the history of British psychedelia, which begins with Michael English and Nigel Waymouth, two well-rounded artists engaged in both the musical and graphic fields. The record is a multifaceted allegory between the British psychedelic experiments of the Beatles and Rolling Stones and what would become the most acid episodes of kraut-rock. The contribution of producer Guy Stevens is essential, as he is practically a legend in the British music scene of the sixties and seventies. Deliberately, wildly indefinable.

Bananas forty years later. In this film directed by Ricky Gervais, the protagonists are a journalist working for the radio and his technician, who, sent to Ecuador to follow developments in a domestic crisis in the South American state, 'miss' their flight and, forced to stay in New York, decide to broadcast from the apartment of a couple of friends and invent everything that happens from scratch. While Allen wore a fake beard to play the role of the South American bigwig, here this virtually doesn’t exist except in the imagination of an easily impressionable audience. A light comedy, yet well directed by Ricky Gervais, who is better than one might think, and perhaps even better than he himself thinks, as he never ‘dare’ too much. more
5 for Leicester's historic victory in the Premier League...and he's also a decent singer. more
Impossibly dark record, with the title track creating unimaginable distress... Another masterpiece from Tim Buckley. more
in the end, he wrote some beautiful songs. he never made a fuss, always in his own place, but he always managed to get the melody in your head. and this is a bit of a masterpiece. more
Album that kicks off a series of incredible albums... more
The standard-bearers of 21st-century progressive. An incredible group, probably the best progressive band after the great "classics." Sonorities reminiscent of post-Genesis, Gentle Giant, and Jethro Tull combined with highly personal excursions into jazz, post-rock, and fusion. Simply fantastic. more
One of the best actors in the world who, unfortunately, in recent years has had to survive as well. more
Just the song that opens the album, 'Hurricane', would be enough to define the entire record as a masterpiece. And yet no, because the rest is a succession of fantastic insights from what is, after all, the greatest songwriter of all time. For what would be an unconventional review, I always suggest the one written at the time by Lester Bangs, worthy of his skirmishes with dear old Lou Reed.

Released in 2013 by Tin Angels Records, the album adds another chapter to the career of this psych-folk singer-songwriter who began touring only at the age of 70. Recorded in four days, the guest appearances of Marc Ribot ('Paper Horses' and 'Maple Street') and the beautiful and talented - I love her - Sharon Van Etten ('Rodeo Rose', 'So', and 'For the World') stand out.

Another great album from the Deftones; there's no doubt about it. With that refined, ethereal, mystical artwork; and the sharp contrast with the title of the work that takes you elsewhere. Chino Moreno's band once again demonstrates that they are beyond, looking ahead in their musical exploration. Post-Rock, Post-Dark; you are swept away by a continuous chase of opposite sensations throughout the eleven tracks that make up Gore. Towards infinity, towards the friend Chi Cheng...Pittura Infamante... more
Directed by George Clooney, who also plays a significant role in the film. It tells the story of Chuck Barris, a television host and inventor of shows later exported worldwide like 'The Dating Game' and 'The Gong Show'. Based on his autobiography, the film simultaneously focuses on what would have been his connections with the CIA (which, of course, has always denied the entire affair) and for which he would have been responsible for the deaths of 33 people. An interesting and well-told story.
