The Beatles
a mediocre group used as a puppet to counter the cultural revolution that was happening in those years, passed off as a revolutionary group. the quintessence of reaction. their songs are all terrible little tunes as well as masterful marketing moves, all made from the same mold, with the usual reassuring melody and the same chorus, with at most 20 seconds of trumpet. those who thought it was a revolutionary act, I suppose, must have missed the suites of the Velvet Underground. more
U2
The mediocre band par excellence. One of the most overrated on planet Earth. Never did anything good, not even in their early albums; less horrible than the latest ones. more
U2
Remarkable and effective. Excellent musicians and skillful lyricists. Bono has the second most beautiful voice in rock. However, they still have a bit of a journey ahead. more
The Beatles
The Beatles were simply genius. Their being "against the grain" was a remarkable strength exploited to the fullest. They were never excellent musicians, nor were they poor or mediocre. It was their simplicity that proved positively devastating. The desire to do, to reach any goal, to materialize anything perceivable by the human ear and beyond. They succeeded, and I would say they did it magnificently. Immense. Why not, unique. more
