I liked the first album. Maybe it was because I was 15 and the idea of Cornell with Morello was just too exciting for me. Even today, I enjoy listening to "Cochise," "Hypnotize," and the furious "Bring 'em Back Alive." I consider the rest of their production to be absolute crap compared to RATM and Soundgarden, but it’s definitely a godsend compared to Cornell’s last solo album, which even manages to outdo them in terms of commercial maneuvers and low quality of composition. Bah!! more
The best band to come out of Seattle. Cameron's rhythms are INCREDIBLE. Shepherd was a stage animal. Thayil's guitar produced everything and more: a mix of Heavy sounds, Stoner, Psychedelia, and Punk influences. Chris Cornell was THE voice of '90s Rock; there's no contest with Vedder and company. When voting, I prefer not to consider "Down on the Upside," the only out-of-tune note from a band that, by that point (like Seattle as a whole), had nothing left to say. more
