The Beach Boys have never driven me crazy; while I acknowledge the undeniable quality of Pet Sounds, I’ve never been able to tolerate it too much. But Smile remains a masterpiece, Pop of the noblest ever laid to tape. I bought the Smile Sessions on vinyl, and it was truly money well spent. more

Franco Battiato -Fetus
Debut album by one of the most versatile and well-rounded artists in the Italian music scene of the last few decades. more
Tubeway Army -Replicas
To fully understand the transition between the '70s and the '80s, this is one of the foundational albums: the half finger of face powder to conceal an emerging acne will unknowingly make him an icon, an untreated mental illness will influence his writing devoid of human relationships. This is the secret of an unavoidable NUMANoid, and even today there are those who compete for it, in the studio and on stage. A historic album. more

Certainly a brilliant mind. Exceptional talent. more
Bruce Springsteen -The River
The history of rock has gone through the grooves of "The River" and has become significantly richer. A milestone. more

Whether it was THE Pop Genius or one of the others, I don't know. And the question isn't even that interesting. But surely in this man's mind there is something very precious. more
Michele Soavi
After a while, he realized that the dramas on Rai Uno were his natural habitat. more
Zhang Yimou
Rhetorical, heavy-handed, often pathetically misplaced. You watch his films and see a grand exterior, more than anything else, with little substance - apart from rare exceptions, like "Lanterne", in which genre much better has been done, abundantly. But he's terrible especially when handling the 70s Hong Kong wu xia with a sound of plagiarism and quotations, stuff that even the worst Tarantino wouldn’t pull off. Disgust. more
John Carpenter
Great director, as cinephiles and others say. At times I appreciate him, at times I hate him. I still rewatch "District 13," "Halloween," and "1997," but other things like "Christine" or "Big Trouble in Little China" I can't digest even after 30 years. Then there are many awful films without appeal, among which "Ghosts of Mars" holds a special place. more
