Lou Reed -Metal Machine Music
The intent was probably a mix between messing around, serious boycotting, and ribbing. The result is a contemporary work of art, nothing more, nothing less. The first experiment of this kind within "commercial" music, outside of the avant-gardes. Unlistenable, thus perfect. If you like it, there's something wrong with you. No point in going on about it too much: it's a record of pure noise. more
The Answer
Pure nonsense until around 2009, then too many idiots started to take themselves too seriously, believing they were gurus because of the points and the ridiculous orange badges. Hilarious categories like Religion and Spirituality, Gender Studies, Adolescence. Sometimes even Rock and Pop. more

I am not a fan of progressive by nature. For me, rock should be dirty and rebellious—a punch in the face, basically. But what these gentlemen have created in the album "Close to the Edge" is INCREDIBLE: a cascade of emotions every time; incredible virtuosities that are never self-serving; inspiration and creativity at levels that are never again even close to attainable. Tom Waits -Bone Machine

The Who -Who's Next
The best love songs album of all time? "Unassailable masterpiece (cit. pataprot)" more
