Motorpsycho -Heavy Metal Fruit
Every listening experience gets better. Almost a 5. Prog '70, space, psychedelia, odd times. more
Genesis -Foxtrot
Unmissable and wonderful more
CCCP Fedeli alla linea
Communists, pro-Soviet, politicized, punky... In short, just how I like it. Their first album is an absolute masterpiece, starting from the title. EMILIA PARANOICAAAA! more
Erskine Caldwell
It has nothing to envy from Steinbeck, indeed! A unique talent in describing misery, ignorance, and the human condition in general. His endings are devastating, and his books are short and sharp as razors. more
32 Leaves -Welcome to the Fall
A small great work of pure hard rock, post-grunge, very pleasant. The rest in my review. more
I cugini di campagna
"wonderfully" more
CCCP - Fedeli alla linea -Epica Etica Etnica Pathos
The last of the CCCP in theory, but in practice the first of the CSI. With Ringo De Palma keeping the rhythm in check, another great album from that band of lunatics. more
Metallica
I've been contemplating how to define the group for days. I remember my infatuation thirty years ago when "Ride The Lightning" was released; that infatuation continued through the next two albums and the one before it. Then came the "Black Album": well, some songs aren't bad. After that, nothing, or almost nothing. "In Medias Res," the Romans used to say... more
Blossom Toes -We Are Ever So Clean
A "gem" of the English psychedelic scene of the '60s, a refined, imaginative pop, where "Look At Me, I'm You" stands out, perhaps the best track on the album... more
Atomic Rooster -Atomic Rooster
Debut album for the British band, year 1970. The band was founded the year before by two members of the Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Vincent Crane on organ and keyboards and Carl Palmer, who at just twenty already demonstrates his great skills on the drums. With the arrival of Graham on bass and flute and John Du Cann on guitars, the group releases the album, a quality progressive hard rock that is very similar to Deep Purple Mark I. Notable tracks include the excellent "Winter" and "Before Tomorrow," composed by Crane and more

Eels -Souljacker
Beautiful. For the most part, it’s electric, fun, and silly; I believe it’s a one-of-a-kind in Mr. E and his Eels' career. It’s not a masterpiece, but tracks like "Dog Faced Boy," "That's Not Really Funny," and "Souljacker I" (my favorite, irresistible) alongside the fiery conclusion of "What Is This Note?" are absolutely scream-worthy. Naturally, there are also more "slow" and melancholic pieces, especially the beautiful "Souljacker part II" and "World of Shit," but not only that. "Teenage Witch" is also fun. It’s truly a great album. more
Silver Apples
Beep, drones, obsessive rhythms, and drafts of melody with plenty of cacophony. With a minimal ensemble of voice, drums, percussion, and a handmade oscillator, what emerges from this bizarre New York duo is perhaps the truest electronic rock avant-garde of the '60s. In one word: aliens. more
Kevin Costner
So tender that it could be cut with a breadstick. more
Nasum -Human 2.0
Twenty-five tracks compressed into 38 minutes and 34 seconds; this is the second work of the Swedes, a total sonic massacre. Manic shards of evolved grindcore, with hardcore inserts that make the sound wall solid and on the brink of audibility; there isn't a single second of pause, the songs follow one another, leaving no time to reflect, to think, to go insane. The legitimate offspring of Napalm Death, whom fate defeated; in memory of Mieszko 1974-2004... Unclassifiable... more
Amorphis
We are nearing the milestone of twenty-five years of career for the Finns, during which they have released eleven studio albums; a long journey for them, starting with a classic Death Metal that has given way to a gothic-folk, with hints of hard-prog, until arriving with their latest works at a solid form of metal rich in melody... Fascinating... more
Renaissance
Top-class prog rock + The stunning voice of Heslam = A show!!! more
Spiritual Beggars
Hard rock with skillful nods to the seventies: this is the sound of the Swedish group led by Michael Amott, already the guitarist of Carcass. And it is precisely the leader’s guitar, with that heavy, full-bodied sound, a characteristic element of a band that has been delivering balanced power albums for twenty years... Mantrici... more

Nasum
Born in Sweden in the early nineties; their grindcore is destabilizing, played at an unheard of speed. Unfortunately, the singer Mieszko Talarczyk, of Polish descent, passed away in December 2004 in the tsunami that struck Thailand; "Grind Finale" is the last work published in 2006: a double compilation where, in just over two hours, they overwhelm us with ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-TWO tracks... Inhuman... more
