To my great surprise (but not disappointment), Defeated Sanity completely change the game in this album compared to the previous "Prelude To Tragedy", while not entirely abandoning their origins.

From the guitar perspective, we find an even heavier distortion, a rotten and buzzing sound. The technique of the guitarists remains unaltered in the riffs, increasingly difficult and abrasive. Unfortunately, there is an almost total lack of solos, which I had greatly appreciated in the previous album. The bass, on the other hand, reigns supreme in this atmosphere, various solos produced with great skill and violence, the compact, dark, and distorted sound stands out even more in this chaotic and sharp atmosphere. In this album, the drums focus, besides on totally innovative tempos, also on classic brutal rhythms, like the classic slowdowns of Ultra Brutal Death Metal. In any case, the factor that marks an almost total change in this CD is surely the new growler, with a much more guttural voice compared to the previous, more similar to bands like Devourment, Disgorge, or Brodequin. This factor will certainly be appreciated by the more extreme Brutalists, but in my opinion, it takes away that timbre that only this group knows how to express. No complaints, the vocalist truly does an excellent job, the entire CD is really well done, technically perfect in every aspect, but it does not reach the perfection that only the previous CD knew how to express. I find in any case it is highly commendable to renew their style, especially for a Brutal Death band.

The heavy atmosphere created by this album is matched by very few other works of the genre, the riffs are truly spot-on, played with surgical precision to unleash blasts of harmonics that are truly violent, drum solos and rapid bass breaks accompanied by a voice gurgled to the impossible. Ultimately, this "Psalms Of The Moribund" is a real behemoth, but it doesn't match the first album, which remains, in my opinion, one of the best Brutal Death works of recent years. In any case, an indisputable band for fans of the genre.
