Decaying Purity is a band from Turkey that plays Brutal Death Metal (alongside their fellow bands Cenotaph and Carnophage). This year, the band released the full-length album Phases Of Dimensional Torture, which, with its strengths and weaknesses, seems to me to be one of the best albums of 2008 so far. This year left me quite disappointed, both in terms of the extreme underground and especially the more famous bands. These Decaying Purity, however, seem to maintain a proper Brutal Death attitude, which means using technique for a specific purpose, to make the sound even more oppressive and intricate. In short, they follow the example of Disgorge, Deeds Of Flesh, and Suffocation and offer a rotten, fast, powerful album with good technique. The riffs remind of the latest Disgorge combined with more classic and slower parts. As for bass and drums, as always, there is excellent precision, fast rhythms, and lots of tempo changes. Adding to this wall of sound is the singer, as rotten and dark as necessary, without the need for filters to make it inhuman as in many Slam releases. Regarding the lyrics, just read the song titles to understand that it's all about ultra-gore, quite ironic too, but in any case, they don't seem noteworthy to me. The real strength of the band is the perfect choice of riffs and the singer's truly excellent growl; the tracks flow perfectly without boredom. If anyone has complaints about originality or similar things, the answer is immediately no, there are no particularly innovative sounds; take it as a merit or as a flaw, this group simply wanted to produce a Brutal Death CD played with attitude. Enthusiasts of the genre should give it a listen; I hope this signal can be useful (even in the future). Brutal Greetings.
