I wanted to complete the official discography of the great Death, so I decided to review Fate, the fifth discographic release of Chuck Schuldiner's group. Analyzing it seems quite pointless, as it is a best of that is merely a compilation with tracks taken from the first four albums, of which the first three are considered from another galaxy compared to the refined and highly technical works the band got us used to later on.
Just for the record, we are looking at a decent best of, considering the presence of some pillars such as the immortal “Zombie Ritual,” the very aggressive “Mutilation,” “Left To Die,” and “Baptized In Blood,” the thoughtful “Spiritual Healing” and “Altering The Future,” the songs from “Human,” that is, the sensational “Suicide Machine” and “Toghether As One,” not to mention the emblematic song of the early Death, namely “Pull The Plug.” However, it must be said that there are many “famous cuts,” and just to name a few, I'll mention “Beyond The Unholy Grave,” “Leprosy,” “Low Life,” “Living Monstruosity,” “Flattening Of Emotions,” “Lack Of Comprehension,” and “Vacant Planets.” Well, I have nothing more to say about this Fate, except to recommend you acquire it (if you want it original though, you're out of luck as it has been out of print for a long time) only if you are fanatics of this great band, as it is much better to own all of Schuldiner's works, each one is fully worth the money spent...
