THE REVIEW

I can't remember the last time I wrote a DeReview. The thing, I realize, may only interest me and not even that much. The fact is, while randomly browsing, I noticed that no one has ever reviewed an album by Dead Sara. To my great surprise, since I am an avid (well, almost, let's not exaggerate) fan. So it seemed right to me to share a few lines about their second album Pleasure to Meet You: those who, like me, are in constant search of noteworthy new entries in the (indie) rock genre will appreciate it. If Dead Sara, their self-titled debut work, hinted at the band’s qualities, mainly interpretative, Pleasure To Meet You makes a substantial step forward in terms of songwriting. We’re in the realm of alternative rock but not too much, with a clear American imprint and echoes of hard rock that aren’t too subtle. Particularly noteworthy is the vocal performance of Emily Armstrong: it’s been a long time since I heard such an intense and convincing voice in rock. Some songs (especially Suicidal and Mona Lisa) are outstanding for their immediacy and energy, sung beautifully! The album as a whole is worth it even if not all the songs reach the same level. Advice: if you like rock vocals and a certain immediacy in listening, give it a chance.
