My new writing, the 177th in this place, is for Il grande cuore della Sud, an album by brothers Aldo and Vittorio De Scalzi dedicated to Sampdoria.
The first edition was in 1990, while it was in 1991, the year of the only championship of the blucerchiata team, the reissue with the addition, in fact, of Ho uno scudetto nel cuore and Roberto.
The actual tracks are 10, while 9 are the interludes, between stadium chants and reading of the lineup.
In this particular compilation, there are only three "light" tracks, namely Boscov dance, Samba de Toninho, and Erano i tempi. But the best part is the poignant tracks, from Lettera da Amsterdam to Ho uno scudetto nel cuore, from the title track to Ultras, from Roberto to Forza Doria.
The lyrics deal with lived life, in football but also outside of football. To season it all is Ricky Belloni’s guitar, unmistakable.
I give this album 4 stars, it represents the best there is among songs about a football team! Retrieve it, it will not disappoint you.
Ps: I knew a gentleman who was a huge fan of Samp who is no longer with us, and when I listen to the poignant songs, the memory is for him... An added value to a really beautiful album regardless.
