The Profile

Days of the New is an American acoustic-driven post-grunge band led by singer-guitarist Travis Meeks. Their 1997 self-titled debut (known as the Orange album) earned platinum status and yielded the singles Touch, Peel and Stand, The Down Town, and Shelf in the Room. Follow-ups—Days of the New II (Green, 1999) and Days of the New III (Red, 2001)—completed the color trilogy.

Origin: Charlestown, Indiana, U.S. Led by Travis Meeks. Style: acoustic-based post-grunge/alternative rock. Debut album released in 1997 (commonly called the Orange album) and certified RIAA Platinum, producing the singles Touch, Peel and Stand, The Down Town, and Shelf in the Room. Subsequent albums: Days of the New II (1999, Green) and Days of the New III (2001, Red). Years active: 1995–2002; 2014.

Both reviews celebrate the band’s acoustic, post-grunge debut and Travis Meeks’ distinctive voice and guitar. The 1997 self-titled (‘Orange’) draws comparisons to Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, with standouts like Touch, Peel & Stand, Shelf in the Room, and Solitude. Later albums (‘Green’ and ‘Red’) are noted as less noticed, while a rare Seattle live VHS is praised.
