For all those who love Doom in the style of Katatonia, Paradise Lost, or Novembre, here is an American band returning after four long years to present their second work: Dismantling Devotion. The content is quite simple, a dark Doom mixed with a cold Death accompanied by heavy and lengthy riffs and a majestic growl. An easy listen for the ears but tempestuous for the soul. So what changes from the first work to this one? The differences are mainly noticeable from a stylistic point of view; the lyrics are shorter, giving precedence to the symphonic parts, especially with the increased technique in this latest dark episode.
As already said, the boys draw much inspiration from the three previously mentioned bands, yet they manage to be very original. Moreover, I would particularly like to praise the artwork of this splendid work—colors and designs that deceive our attention like very few can.

The first song "A Life Less Lived" is a terrifying opener, already one of the best at first listen, and its length and style make it the right song to introduce this band. With "Dead Air" we're already fully immersed in the meaning of the word Doom... captured by this dark magic, we swiftly proceed to the third song!!! "A Dream Resigned" stands out for slightly higher speeds, but only slightly, especially in the finale when it goes into a solo. In "All We Had", the boys maintain a consistently high speed, and prominently feature the growl singing. "Solitary Refinement" slows down the pace of the previous two songs a bit and especially draws a lot from the Draconian style, which I really appreciate! The singing is not in growl but is clean, giving the sensation of almost being a moment of intermediation between the first and second part of the work. With "Strive To See", they return to the growl and slightly pick up the pace, everything perfect so far. In "Lies That Blind" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NpjF2t48UQ) the singing is amazing; moreover, the guitars are very reminiscent of 'Tallica in … And Justice For All!!! The title track is nothing short of magical, a long journey through snowy forests and gray clouds…

What can I say!!! Amazing... the great characteristic of this work is that the tracks are all equivalent, giving the work the sensation of a long, enchanting black dream. For all those who love the aforementioned bands and melancholic Doom, this work is an absolute must-have in your great metal masterpieces collection!!!
