“Collapsing into joy… … … ”
Constantly balancing between the unreal and the surreal, the slow advance of this album gently takes you into the dreaming arms of a suspended dimension.
It could be the ideal soundtrack for a documentary on the confrontation of the seasons, it certainly is for the visions of one's soul, projected onto the screen, stretched by the mistral wind infused with sea salt.
The tracks follow one another without ever straying from their predestined uniformity; this feature is a merit and not a limitation of this masterpiece. Every note, starting from the guitar surges, excellently played by both Sylvian himself and the immense Marc Ribot, up to the never intrusive samplings, chisels this album into a shape that changes with each listen.
“I Surrender”, “Thalhiem” and “Darkest Dreaming” are the gems of a work that could accompany you in that dream from which you never want to awake.
“In the everything and nothing In disharmony and rhyme In the sound of shot and echo Who's the victim, what's the crime? What's the crime?”
