LA RECENSIONE

What can I say, only saxophonists are coming my way these days. And what saxophonists! If you put Steve Gadd (drums), Marcus Miller (bass), Buzzy Feiten (guitars), Lenny Castro (percussions) next to David Samborn and have Patty Austin and Valerie Simpson as background vocals, you are already sure you're on the right track. Voyeur brings the fusion that started a few years earlier into the '80s, keeping at a good level, before the total downfall that from the mid-'80s onward would have sunk the genre. The sound is smooth and pleasant like the evening breeze you enjoy on that Miami terrace while the sun sets over the sea along the horizon, painting the sky with those dreamy colors. The glass with the "sbagliato" is beaded with droplets of condensation, and that breeze, that sip, and this music really make you understand that you're there. It's not just fusion, but yacht-rock that at a certain point pushes and is colored with Caribbean rhythms, while the keyboards fill and warm up the scene. You can't help but meet its gaze and crack a smile. It's practically done!

David Sanborn's 'Voyeur' delivers a smooth and pleasant fusion album rooted in the early 80s sound. Featuring legendary musicians like Steve Gadd and Marcus Miller, it blends yacht-rock with Caribbean rhythms. The album evokes relaxed, breezy atmospheres perfect for sunset listening.
