David Keith Lynch (born January 20, 1946) is an American filmmaker, artist and musician known for surreal, dreamlike films such as Eraserhead, Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive.

Lynch is a multidisciplinary artist (film director, visual artist, musician). He co-created Twin Peaks with Mark Frost and frequently collaborated with composer Angelo Badalamenti; Trent Reznor contributed music to Lost Highway. His work is noted for dream logic, doubling, and distinctive sound design.

DeBaser's reviews celebrate Lynch's dreamlike, often nightmarish cinema — from early black-and-white experiments to sprawling digital epics. Recurring notes: uneasy atmosphere, doubling/doubles, potent soundtracks and formal provocation. Readers here range from ardent admiration to serious critique.
