Like all the great Bowie fans, as soon as I heard about the release of this double album (limited edition that includes a third CD containing the BBC concert dated 27-06-2000), I rushed to buy it.
For a fan, the relationship between the product’s quality and the price is definitely satisfactory. I am convinced that the same cannot be said for a newcomer or someone not in love with the white duke's music: the product is not very well curated, the quality of the remastering is not high, perhaps due to the poor quality of the original tapes.
However, there are some surprises that may justify the purchase: the proposed versions of "Waiting for the Man" and "White Light/White Heat" covers by the Velvet Underground led by friend Lou Reed (let us not forget that Bowie will be the producer of Reed's first solo album, the FABULOUS Transformer) are, for example, two great works.
Ultimately, what is most appealing is the sensation of listening to an artist who always knows what to do, both live and in the studio.
The package is nice, the packaging design is not bad at all, and it contains comprehensive explanations about the various recording sessions held at the BBC studios between 68 and 72.
The added 2000 live performance has a nice sound, very refined, particularly benefiting from the touch of drummer Sterling Campbell, who was in top form on that occasion.
The purchase of this product is justified not only by the affection for David's immortal music but also by the limited edition.
Reliable.
