Strada Bianca is the first and only album by the Data, released in 1974 by the record label Numero Uno.
The trio composed of Damiano Dattoli (from whom the group takes its name), Umberto Tozzi, and Massimo Luca created this album, which is as interesting as it is unfortunate, to the point of quickly becoming a rarity despite its re-release on CD about twenty years later, in 1990.
On the occasion of its rediscovery, this title has often been associated with the Italian Prog genre, also thanks to the beautiful cover by Caesar Monti, but in truth, the thirteen tracks that make it up are more influenced by late Beatles influences, Pop in the style of Flora Fauna e Cemento, and some subtle Symphonic Rock atmospheres.
The album is well played, enriched by beautiful voices inspired by the lyrics written in collaboration with lyricist Alberto Salerno. The arrangements are by Claudio Pascoli.
Information on this album is really scarce. My impression, having listened to it for a long time, is that it is an excellent record released, however, at the wrong time.
The three, particularly Tozzi, were already about to embark on new paths, and I can't say how much they believed in this project, perhaps not well supported by Numero Uno itself, also engaged at the same time with the supergroup Il Volo.
An opportunity missed, therefore, that could, however, represent a pleasant discovery for those who have the fortune to find a copy.
