We are looking at one of the best RPG sagas ever made, which is Baldur's Gate, derived from the famous role-playing game "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons."

This is the only chapter that has fallen into my hands, and I didn't know what it was about until the moment I inserted the disc into the black console. I had only heard of "Baldur's Gate" and everyone touted it as an absolute masterpiece. Now that I've lived this colossal adventure firsthand, I can only confirm what I was told and fully appreciate the development work by "Black Isle Studios."

From the introduction, not very exciting, one can foresee what lies ahead in this scenario that seems never to end: a vampire wants to turn Baldur's Gate and surrounding areas into a desolate land of humble slaves. Your task, needless to say, is to overcome countless levels to reach the final challenge (after facing every sort of "monster" you can think of). So choose your character, who can be a Warrior, a Cleric, a Necromancer, a Dwarf Thief, or an Elven Monk, each with different characteristics and abilities, and begin your journey, always keeping an eye on the map (which I recommend keeping reduced at the top of the screen) to explore every possible nook and cranny.

Pick up as many items as you can: weapons, magical and revitalizing potions, accessories, and precious stones, until you reach the allowed load limit, which can be increased as your hero's experience grows. In fact, skills can improve with gameplay time and the results obtained, so you will learn new spells, strength, resistance, carrying capacity, and much more. It's up to you to choose which "part" you want to enhance.

In truth, the game is almost exclusively based on combat, so you'll be bashing left and right nonstop to see the end of missions; puzzles are really few. Once you reach Baldur's Gate, you can finally start "making money" with the local merchant, selling all the superfluous trinkets collected during the various levels, and you'll have the opportunity to purchase others, more useful, as well as precious stones that will be needed for the enhancement of your weapons in the "laboratory" section, greatly increasing their destructive power.

As you progress, you will meet various characters, who will  offer you missions in exchange for hefty monetary rewards (you're a mercenary if you hadn't realized) and the game scenario will gradually open with the completion of each individual adventure. It is good and right, as well as very useful, to remember to save the game occasionally at the many available points; never trust too much in your abilities, because now you're here, and a moment later... Well. The graphics are very good, detailed in every respect, and the story is compelling; the only downside is the dialogues, which are dubbed really badly. Sometimes they even make you lose the desire to play because they are so forced. It could have been handled much better.

You can find some tricks online, but I highly recommend discovering for yourself what happens once you reach the end after defeating the terrible vampire (character menu, it's there but unseen..), but you will also have to finish it in extreme mode to access even... (still in the character menu).

If you are looking for a role-playing game of remarkable longevity, this is the product for you, as each character available has totally different combat techniques and abilities, so if you're a little crazy and have plenty of time available, test the abilities of each one of them (but also of... No, no, play around people, you have to finish it!).

Let the adventure begin, mortals.
