The Dark Lunacy were born in Parma at the beginning of 1997 by the decision of Mike (vocals) and Enomys (guitars). In 1998, Baijkal (drums) and Harpad (bass) joined the band permanently, but unfortunately, due to serious personal reasons, Harpad was forced to leave the group in 2001, and Imer took his place.

They are proponents of a genre commonly defined as “dramatic death metal” that mixes intense and cutting rhythms typical of death metal with decadent atmospheres, inspired melodic openings more oriented towards gothic, a remarkably skilled string quartet, and a mixed choir of three voices composed of no fewer than twenty members. As the group was initially founded as a self-contained project, their discography comprises only two albums, one mini, one EP, and one split-CD:

Silent Storm     (1998) self-produced mini
Serenity           (1999) self-produced EP
Devoid             (2000) LP under SELF
Twice             (2002) split cd with Infernal Poetry
Forget Me Not   (2003) LP under SELF

A new CD release has been announced for the coming months, with a preview given at the Evolution Festival 2005.
Undoubtedly, the best part of their discography is represented by "Forget Me Not," an intense album rich in atmosphere and darkness. Mike's voice, with its vibrant and expressive growl, successfully conveys the sadness, melancholy, and strength of their lyrics, supported by Baijkal, who showcases remarkable technical skills, precision, and power, even live, by Imer who launches into mighty strumming on his four-string, and by Enomys (sometimes overshadowed by the other members), all carried along like a gentle breath of wind by the strings, the beautiful voices of the choir, and the piano. Heart-wrenching is the scream that Mike unleashes right after the intro of "Through The Non Time," a song that expresses in all its power and poetry the strength of Dark Lunacy, the perfect harmony and synchronicity of the various elements, the sublime cooperation between such distant genres.

However, the song I prefer is another one. "Serenity"... the perfect harmony between the metal component and the classical component, the sublime poetry of the lyrics and the gothic atmospheres make it undoubtedly, at least as far as I'm concerned, the most significant song in their discography.

"Forget Me Not is still capable of eliciting great emotions."

The album's songs are all interconnected through a kind of concept revolving around memory.
