"Murd A Murder" is the debut album by Dar Blek Ahs and was released in October 2009.
It is an experimental work, similar in some ways to Grindcore, in others to Emo Violence. The lyrics talk about love, pain, hate, and sometimes there are also explicit contents.
Now let's analyze the album in detail:
- Vocals
The vocals are predominantly Scream and Growl, at some moments Dar uses real screams. At some points, it seems a bit unpolished and perhaps even "unoriginal", but overall convincing.
- Guitars
Two guitars, moreover recorded in stereo. The effect is exceptional, you can distinguish them perfectly and the two parts always work independently.
The riffs are innovative, the solos as well, everything goes beyond the classic "hardcore" framework... perhaps a bit too much (?).
Unfortunately, true harmony is only found in two tracks and for a short time, chords are almost unused, Drop D tuning. A Telecaster was used during the recording.
- Bass
The most ambiguous instrument of the album. In many songs almost absent, then we find it as a soloist in "Scissor" in a sweet part and in "My New Hourglass". An Aria was used for the recording.
- Drums
Not bad, but it could have been better, much better. Very consistent, elaborate, but not too convincing...
In short, the record deserves it, but only up to a certain point. The genre is innovative to some extent, surely many of you will appreciate it, many others will call it garbage.
The album will be available on iTunes at the end of October 2009.
