On June 22, 2018, the umpteenth reissue of the most successful album by the youngest of the Minogue sisters (Dannii), "Neon Nights," will be released, celebrating this year its 15th anniversary. It will be available on a double CD and, for the first time, also on vinyl.
It was back in 2003 when Dannii Minogue far surpassed Madonna (American Life), Britney Spears (In the Zone), and even her sister Kylie Minogue (Body Language) by releasing her fourth album of original songs that featured global hits, club anthems, and numerous music awards.
To go step by step, in 2001, after several years of silence, Dannii was invited by DJ Riva to sing on the track "Who Do You Love Now?", a single that was released at the end of the year and became a number one worldwide hit. It was a grand return for the younger Minogue, who signed a contract with London Records for multiple albums. "Put the Needle on It" is the single released in 2002 with urban retro sounds from the '80s, while in March 2003, "I Begin to Wonder" (a single) and the entire project "Neon Nights" were released.
"Neon Nights" contains 15 tracks, written and produced by Dannii Minogue with various artists and international DJs from the dance scene. It's a retro '80s album with urban, rap, and electro-pop atmospheres. Thanks to some past hits that were remixed with the present, Dannii Minogue created bootlegs (later, in 2005, Madonna did the same with ABBA and her famous "Hung Up").
In 2003, a fourth single "Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling" was also released, remixed with Madonna's "Into the Groove" (Dannii was the first artist allowed to use Madonna's tracks for her own single).
In 2009, a deluxe version of the album was released for fans, featuring rare photos, B-sides, and bonus tracks.
In 2018, the album's vinyl will be released for the first time, including photos, and also a new CD version to celebrate 15 years of this success.
Neon Nights represents the perfect summary of the Minogue household philosophy in the 00s, a flirt between the magic of the dance floor and alternative sounds.
Overall, a pleasant dance-pop work, simple, immediate, and perfect for introducing oneself to the family alternative to the magnificent Kylie.
