The Profile

British singer, songwriter, producer and visual artist. A former member of Lemon Kittens, she released a series of adventurous solo records in the 1980s, including the self-produced Pop-Eyes. She was active from 1979 to 1995.

Pop-Eyes was written, performed, arranged and produced by Danielle Dax, whose Meat Harvest artwork appeared on the original cover. She emerged from Lemon Kittens and worked across experimental, post‑punk and new wave, with notable 1980s releases and a long pause from new material after 1990.

Two reviews celebrate Danielle Dax’s adventurous 1980s output. Pop-Eyes is praised for its self-produced, multi-instrumental, genre-blurring vision and striking Meat Harvest artwork. Jesus Egg That Wept is highlighted for “Evil honky stomp” and its mix of disco, trance, and Arabesque chants. One reviewer places her peak between Pop-Eyes and this 1984 EP, noting later turns toward indie-disco and a long pause after 1990.
