2002 - Daniele Silvestri ranks fourteenth at the San Remo Festival, accompanied by a rather curious dancer perhaps to poke some fun at the "Lollipop" style of that year, the fact remains that the critics do not treat him as the final verdict and the official ranking did, indeed they appreciate Silvestri's originality and sincerity. Daniele is as sincere as his album that will be released in that very year: Unò-Duè.
The song brought to the Festival is "Salirò", a catchy piece that opens the aforementioned album. The second is "Il mio nemico" (unmistakable attack) another single, this one, however, much more committed and characteristic of the Roman singer. And it is precisely in these moments that Daniele Silvestri is truly appreciated, when he lets this rage (always contained) emerge from him along with his classic protest attitudes. "La Classifica", for example, is significant in its lyrics; in these pieces, the singer-songwriter's ironic attitude and the negativistic presentation of the world in all its problems are felt: big (Is blood more important / or the price of the weapons we sell?) or small (Young lady, what do you recommend / the original album / or the forty thousand you charge me?). The tail of the song is very nice too, with a descending scale of a ranking, in short, that Daniele Silvestri is a good lyricist was already known, but that sometimes by stimulating his poetic vein he writes pieces like "L'Autostrada", of great poetic depth, should not be forgotten.
Unfortunately, however, the album does not impress in its entirety, quite the opposite. The other songs are absolutely not like the pieces mentioned above. "Sempre di Domenica" is a summer song that passes from one ear to the other in a short time. "Manifesto" is a bit better live (I experienced it firsthand) but offers nothing new. The same fate for "Il colore del mondo", a typical track from Silvestri's early albums, but it increases the qualitative plunge of the CD. Amusing is "Mi interessa" but the only songs that probably manage to soften the plunge are the ballad "Sabbia e Sandali", sweet, romantic and multi-voiced, and the poignant "Di padre in figlio". However, the album remains less than decent, probably the fault of songs that are a bit too light. And let's be clear, those looking for something musically interesting at most can go to one of his concerts, but this album they can just as well throw away.
