THE REVIEW

Daniele Groff, a singer-songwriter from Trentino born in '73, returns in 2004 after two decent albums ("Variatio 22" and "Bit") with a new work titled "Mi Accordo".

Heavily influenced at the beginning of his career by the brit-pop of bands like Oasis (check out the hit singles "Io Sono Io" and especially "Daisy" to believe it), both in lyrics deliberately on the verge of non-sense and purely British sounds, with this work he tries to distance himself from too obvious and unoriginal references (as happened in the previous two LPs) to move towards a more singer-songwriter form, while still remaining anchored to the sounds he cherishes the most.

Opened by the first single presented at that year's mediocre (as always) Sanremo, that is the wonderful and moving "Sei Un Miracolo", the work unfolds through the usual alternation between songs in Italian and English.

In the first category, the aforementioned first extract is definitely noteworthy (a triumph of electro-acoustic guitars and strings with maybe somewhat mushy but undoubtedly moving lyrics), the beautiful "Come Sempre" (which highlights the more singer-songwriter approach mentioned above) and the concluding "Ho Cambiato Città", slow and melancholic; the "British" side of the album is instead more prominently represented by tracks like the wonderful "By Yourself", undoubtedly the best number of the work, the rhythmic "London's Calling" and the fine third single "Morning", deep and evocative.

An album that will not fail to delight those nostalgic for the '94-'97 triennium, but that opens our local Daniele (also supported here by the historical producer Patrignani) to slightly broader and more complete influences.

Awaiting the new album already hinted at by the single "Prendimi" (written in collaboration with "Mr. Lemon Tree" Volker Hinkel, guitarist of Fool's Garden), a good half hour of music, written and performed with honesty and good talent.
