THE REVIEW

When sweeping the floor, you often find strange objects, shards forgotten at the back of furniture. It also happens to find oneself, like in a daily archaeology of soul scavengers.

These shards, painstakingly aligned and glued together with memories, sound like this debut album by Daniela Pes.

Daniela Pes is the Fiona Apple of Gallura. A catchy and also inaccurate phrase, I know. But it gets the idea across.

That's how I imagine her: firmly rooted in the dry and harsh land, like a dandelion root.

Spiky and sharp like a thistle or a prickly pear.

Voice of sea foam, gray and nebulous.

Voice of granite, slate, and a heart of tuff.

Songs like smoothed storms.

Tar drones, hypnotic and bituminous textures.

Nothing new, of course. But who cares?
