Dance For Burgess, a band that astonishes.

I've read various reviews of their album, so I decided to write one myself. From the words expressed, there’s a hint of an '80s revival, post-punk, new wave, like many bands coming out at this time, in Italy and beyond. But when I think of "SSA", that’s not enough.

What can I say, 10 songs that leave you wanting to start listening to them again; personally, it doesn’t happen to me often when I listen to an album, the last time I did something similar was with Nirvana's "Nevermind," if you catch my drift? In "SSA," you can hear a tangle of influences.

The starting points, I suppose, are the late '70s and early '80s like Joy Division, Cure, Pil, Gang Of Four, Contortion, The Fall; but everything intertwines with Barrett school psychedelia, noise à la Sonic Youth, melodies and paranoias à la Radiohead. The bass goes straight like a train in motion, the drum machine makes you dance, the guitar seems to come out of a mental hygiene clinic, in a nutshell: brilliant.

"Toyshop", "MIA", "Ein", "Rats", "I'm Wired", "Tape", "OMGMJ"; they can easily be 7 singles. I reiterate, this is an album that breaks, tilts, and shatters something we're used to.

Listen to believe.
