The Profile

American singer-songwriter and co-founder of Green On Red, born in Los Angeles and raised in Tucson. Released solo debut Can O' Worms in 1995, then returned with the Marlowe Billings cycle—albums and companion novels—beginning with The Deliverance of Marlowe Billings (2012). Works largely in Americana/alt-country with a desert-tinged, autobiographical edge.

Co-founded Green On Red; records as his alter ego Marlowe Billings; collaborated with Steve Wynn as Danny & Dusty; worked with Italian band Sacri Cuori on The Deliverance of Marlowe Billings.

Rowland’s 5-star review hails The Deliverance of Marlowe Billings as a heartfelt comeback for Dan Stuart after years away. It frames the album as an autobiographical, twilight-toned set recorded with Italy’s Sacri Cuori, steeped in desert imagery and survival. Highlights include Gringo Go Home, What Are You Laughing About, and tender ballads that echo Green On Red’s spirit. The piece connects Stuart’s past struggles and his Marlowe Billings alter ego across albums and companion novels.
