This is the album I recommend to everyone who has prejudices against hardcore or who considers it monotonous and repetitive.
Behind Damnation Ad hides the black guitarist from Battery (an icon of hardcore) who, by indulging in his personal project, with just one album practically denigrated everything Battery did before and after him with ten CDs.
Already the first track "Two Steps Down" gets me excited for the unique guitar riffs (stunning distortion), the galactic changes, and the fiery and granite voice. All the remaining 9 tracks are no less: "The Hanged Man", "Funeral March", and "Sleep" are absolutely the best expression of positive aggression that hardcore wants to convey. A perfect fusion of old- and new-school, metal influences like Helmet, and Scandinavian-American rhythms on point.
Released in 1995 on Jade Tree (California), it was crap back then, still today compared to recent productions from Revelation and Lost & Found.
Those who appreciate Snapcase and Unbroken will be thrilled with Damnation Ad, their extraordinary musical expression, and the dizzying riffs: You'll want to do away with your belts to wear your pants halfway down, to move only on a skateboard, and to hate all mentalities and ideologies.
I saw them in concert in Berlin in 1996 (or 1997) and live they rock even more!!! Viva Damnation Ad. Dem-nei-scion... Dem-nei-scion... Dem-nei-scion
