THE REVIEW

The Damageplan are the brand-new band of brothers Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrel (respectively drummer and guitarist of the former Pantera) joined by bassist Bob Zilla (nicknamed for his powerful bass playing reminiscent of Godzilla's footsteps) and singer Pat Lachman (guitarist of Halford).
The genre offered is very similar to that proposed in the early days by Pantera, although at times there are more influential melodic parts.
Noteworthy are the collaborations of Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne and BLS - lead guitar in Reborn and second voice in Soul Bleed) and Corey Taylor (Slipknot – vocals in Fuck You), but they are not sufficient to elevate the quality of this new band's effort.
Ultimately, an album well recorded with some tracks (Wake Up – Breathing New Life – New Found Power – Fuck You) of notable aggressiveness and others with catchy choruses that you learn instantly and can't get out of your head (Save Me – Blink of an Eye), but perhaps due to the group's limited experience, it lacks originality.

Summary by Bot

Damageplan's debut album 'New Found Power' showcases the talents of former Pantera members with heavy yet melodic metal tracks. Notable guest appearances by Zakk Wylde and Corey Taylor add flair, but the album struggles with originality. While some aggressive and catchy songs stand out, the overall experience feels familiar rather than innovative.

Their music is hard, powerful, a mix where all the barriers between Thrash, Power, and Nu Metal fall.

It’s a shame... that this album remained as the testament of dear friend Dimebag Darrell tragically killed last year by a mad criminal.
