1991 the year in question.. during that period, the hard rock scene was full, overflowing, with bands of varying quality, but most of them came from the United States and to a lesser extent from Europe. One of these was the unfortunately "underrated" Disneyland After Dark, which was their initial name later changed to d-a-d due to legal issues from Disney itself, pure-blooded Danes. With their previous work "No Fuel Left For The Pilgrims," they gained significant notoriety even in Italy; it was the distant 1989.
"Riskin It All" is the work following that brief yet intense success, a success that in their homeland - Denmark - they have continued to enjoy and still do, producing albums of excellent quality even though they have abandoned the typically hard rock sound that characterized their early works. But let's get to the album in question. Released in 1991, the sound of this record, rather than from cold Denmark, seems to come from the deserts of Texas. A very frequent use of slide creates a pleasant melodic hard rock that greatly resembles the great AC-DC, an album well-played by musicians skilled in the genre, though not exceptional in technical prowess. But as we know, that doesn't always count as much, on the contrary, it's often the opposite. Jesper Binzer's voice is very poignant and gritty, the tracks are all very nice and catchy for those who love "simple simple" rock. I mention some of the most beautiful ones:
"BAD CRAZINESS" captivating, "D-LAW" very melodic, "GROW OF PAY" a poignant ballad, "LAUGH AND 1/2" completely acoustic that greatly surpasses the acoustics of those times. All in all, a great album, inferior to the previous one but absolutely a must for those who love rock and not only.
