LA RECENSIONE

In the dark weaving of musical annals, the sinister and enigmatic saga of David Tibet's Current 93 emerges. Inexorably intertwined with the filigrees of the occult, their first official incursion, well-known to initiates as "Lashtal," breaks into the circle of esoteric manifestations. Although technically the 1983 split with Nurse With Wound is the first release under the name Current 93, it is in the 1984 EP "Lashtal" where David Tibet's creature reveals its true face. "Lashtal" must be considered in every respect the first album of Current 93. A work that defies dimensions with its dark melody and lyrics steeped in ancient secrets. In that sonic temple, Tibet stands as the high priest of apocalyptic visions. "Lashtal" tears the veil of the true essence of Current 93, offering a preview of the abyss that awaits those who dare to peer into the depths of the unknown. The word "LASHTAL" resonates like an echo from the crypts of the human mind, a formula of Crowleyan Thelemic magic whispered among the folds of the cosmos. In LASHTAL, the call is clear: "do not stray from God," an invocation that resonates through the ages. The Current 93 delve into the depths of the night of times, unveiling secrets buried in the folds of time. Like an offering to the divine, this EP manifests as an ancient scroll brought to light, an enigma wrapped in the vapor of memory. "Lashtal" rises like a monolith in the abyss of sound, shaped with the help of the arcane John Balance of Coil. In this recording, the ancestral call blends with the breath of the machine, creating a tribal atmosphere infused with industrial electronics, a sonic ritual etched in the spirals of time. At the heart of this EP, one can feel the pulse of ancient forces, the passion for the occult, and the relentless pursuit of hidden truth. Though raw and primitive, "Lashtal" has an inestimable historical importance (it can be heard as a bonus track in the CD reissue of "Nature Unveiled") and traces the path for the future sonic epics of Current 93, a primordial monument that stands in the panorama of esoteric industrial. In it, the secrets of the universe intertwine with dissonant notes, creating a discordant harmony that resonates through the ages. In this sonic ritual, "Lashtal" reveals itself not only as a testament to the dark industrial language of the Current 93 but as a portal to the unknown, a key that opens the doors of eternity. Let those who dare listen be prepared to embark on a journey beyond the boundaries of time and space, into the abyss of forbidden knowledge. The 5 stars are due to its historical importance. The subsequent records are objectively far superior.
