LA RECENSIONE

In an era shrouded in the occult twilight of timeless ages, In Menstrual Night reveals its essence as an arcane grimoire of industrial-ambient spectrality, a visionary work shaped by the dark alliance of Steven Stapledon of Nurse With Wound and David Tibet, keepers of the dark sonic entities. Originally emerged as an ancient musical relic in an extremely limited edition, the album follows the format of Nature Unveiled's "two side-long tracks of industrial-ambient spectrality." However, here the collaboration transcends the mere title, plunging into an unknown realm where agonizing dreams and voices heard among hospital shadows blend like invisible threads of an occult destiny.

"Sucking UP Souls" is a desperate and solitary sonic mosaic, yet strangely enveloping. Incomprehensible whispers, children's voices, and various melodies and sounds intertwine, creating an undeniably unsettling sonic experience. It must be listened to in solitude and with headphones as "To Feed the Moon" pushes the boundaries of perception with samples twisting under a hypnotic and thunderous percussion. "In Menstrual Night" resonates like the lament of tormented souls, a cry of frustration from those who cannot find peace even in death.

However, in contrast to the sonic storms of the predecessors Nature Unveiled and Dogs Blood Rising, In Menstrual Night presents itself as a more tranquil journey. The sound waves meander with quiet mastery, and subtler nuances emerge with elegance, as if the darkness had found refuge to dance with slower steps, revealing a more serene and contemplative side of Current 93. In this balance between intensity and quietude, the record stands out as a fascinating milestone in their musical evolution, a dwelling where shadows manifest with a more delicate, yet equally captivating ritual.
