Let's see what we have here:
Smart, stubborn, melodic Math Rock, played divinely to say the least, with a dry and "live" production yet respectful of every single element and boasting "dazzling" ideas in terms of sounds (the Holdsworthian solo is insanely impressive).
A dizzying dive into the sound of bands like The Fall of Troy, This Town Needs Guns, and the like, but with a "little" detail: here we reach sensational levels, superior, even to the dense quality offered by the aforementioned bands.
In short, this is no joke: "Clockwork" is a damn masterpiece, no ifs, ands, or buts, a gorgeously melodic song, with guitar riffs that intertwine almost perfectly and an impeccable rhythm section, funky and ever-changing to the right extent, alternating odd times with very tight sections, a bass finally present and jazzy enough, perfectly counterbalanced by the "magical" riffing of the guitar.
The clean and slightly overdriven sounds make everything even more original and enjoyable, we are indeed far from the dystopian distortions of a Metal record, but we couldn't care less I'd say! It simply WORKS. And I'd say big time: even the seemingly subdued voice compared to the rest effortlessly fits into a triumph of diverse influences, leading up to the incredible final climax where a frenzied drum and bass give way to dreamlike melodies that literally give you chills.
