Little Comets On Fire are growing - Part Two

A brief mention for an EP of just 25 minutes. They come from New York, they are 5, they are young, and they can boast a half-Mexican keyboard player perpetually on peyote that not even ? & The Mysterians and a black guy who looks like DJ Jazzy Jeff (without the Fresh Prince) doesn't even know what he plays. And they are, moreover, one of the few cases where I agree with the enthusiasm of Pitchfork.

Given the premises, you will understand that these young lads do not make art-rock nor do they attend vernissages in the trendiest Manhattan lofts with their artist friends, but wander in the filth of the streets below, waiting for the arty types to come out tipsy from the chic party to properly whack them, not before having given them a horse dose of acids rectally.

Here, try to render these images into music (if you can, The Fantastic World of Paul won't hold a candle!) and you will have a fairly centered idea of their sound. Translating everything into four names, I would say: the Seeds going out to make a racket with Comets On Fire period Blue Cathedral, picking up Dic Mik of the Hawkwind on the way, filling up on amphetamines, and ending up getting drunk until morning at the Dead Boys' house.

If we lived in a better world, the sum of the musical references should have given birth to a wunderkind, but it isn’t so. However, the result is stimulating albeit still unfocused, with ample room for improvement in future prospects.
