THE REVIEW

Have you ever seen the movie "HELLRAISER"? Are you familiar with those charming CENOBITES? They appear, tear apart the unlucky victim of the moment, and disappear. What happens to them afterward? When their regular work shift ends, they return to their well-qualified hangout. They put on something less formal and relax after a hard day of various dissections. What to do? A bit of TV, maybe "PORTA A PORTA." It would be torture even for them. Let's play some music. What could they listen to? What tastes might they have in common? Something to please everyone, especially the one with nails in his head who has difficult tastes and is always complaining.

With these characters in mind, the answer is obvious. A nice relaxing Cranioclast album, perhaps their, I believe, second LP "KOLIK-SAN-ART."

The German duo has much in common with the Cenobites, certainly less bloodthirsty but equally "enigmatic." When their sound creations spread throughout an environment, the unease is the same as an imminent visit from "Pinhead" and company.

But let's listen to this album released by the German duo in 1986, whose particulars, I believe, are not known. Exactly what are we listening to? A soundtrack from a movie made in a parallel dimension. We could lightly define it as an INDUSTRIAL DARK AMBIENT album. All the ingredients of the aforementioned genres—sounds of uncertain origin, concrete music, dark electronics, notes generated by a piano, and a ghost of classical music—are blended in a way that might seem random to us mere mortals. A sick, chaotic music, a mirror of the times, a calculated chaos. A sonic big bang.

I really don't know what to tell you... I don't know what else to come up with. Listen to the album if you want, and everyone can think what they like.

As for me, I'm realizing that I need to change my circle of friends... Good luck and beware of the Cenobites.
