How many things you learn when you enjoy a movie like this, unknown to most but one that you absolutely love and discover things you never expected!

"Il mostro che uccide," original title "The Bat" with the legendary Vincent Price, is a very beautiful thriller mystery. A film that keeps you glued to your seat and captures the viewer from beginning to end without ever boring. We are dealing with a maniac with a very particular look to whom we shall have a few words after, wandering around the villa of a famous writer, a beautiful villa, located in the ideal place for writing mystery books, therefore a creepy place to be clear.

There's a large sum of money at stake and naturally, the killer, called by everyone "The Bat," wants to get his hands on it! The plot is all here, there's no need to go further. Now, the thing that struck me most and in some sense shocked me about this film is the killer's look. Pay attention, if I tell you a killer, with a hat, faceless, with claws on one glove...who can it remind you of? It reminds me of two "illustrious" characters from the history of cinema. The first is the killer from Bava's masterpiece "Sei donne per l'assassino," the second is the famous, but what do I say famous...very famous Freddy Krueger!

And here we return to the discussion, these films that may not be blockbusters, may not be masterpieces...everything you want...but they absolutely must be watched, because at the very least they confront you with realities you never imagined. Watching this film I understood that at least Bava and Craven saw it and adored it, to the point of being inspired (clear as day) by this film for the creation of their "monsters." This alone indicates that this film is important.

As for the film itself, I found it well done, good direction, excellent actors, but above all, the narration and the development of the story, glide by beautifully, a film that you follow and that engrosses you in its mysteries. It has all the features a good mystery or thriller should have. On the other hand, these are films that essentially have to focus on two things, rhythm and tension that doesn't necessarily need to be exaggerated, meaning it doesn't necessarily have to be scary in the strict sense, but it must at least be felt by the viewer and involve them in the story a hundred percent.

A film that personally I liked a lot and made me discover that even geniuses take inspiration from films you would never think of, after all "inspiration" is "legitimate," so let's welcome these films. I really hope they are rediscovered and that people get passionate about them because they are truly gems worth watching.

"Il mostro che uccide" definitely falls among these gems, highly recommended!
