An Artist: Craig Armstrong, an Album: The Space Between Us, where every single note, of every single track, of every single word, of every single orchestral interposition, of every interstice, of every single instrument, be it piano, harp, violins, cellos, synthesizers, percussion, flutes, clarinets, are the demonstrative and concrete explanation of "her" who is called EMPATHY that is.....
The ability to perceive on an emotional and deep level, sensations that lie within the intimacy of the other side and therefore to experience them together. - The ability to appreciate the physical pain of others, which is processed by the same areas of the brain that we use to experience the pain we personally perceive. When a painful stimulus arrives, the signals travel like an electric discharge to the brain. The painful stimulus is then translated into a response that is both physical and emotional. - The ability that allows you to understand how another person feels and allows people to resonate with their own and others' moods and lets us read and understand not only the emotions people express in words, but also those that, more or less, are consciously expressed with the tone of voice, gestures, facial expressions, and other similar non-verbal channels, indicators of a mood. - The ability to intuit what value an event holds for the interlocutor, without being guided by one's own meaning attribution schemes. - The ability to read between the lines, to capture every sensation. - The ability to be beyond the 5 senses. - The ability to look through the eyes of the other. The ability to close one's eyes and let oneself be carried away by the sound, by the music, by the melody, and it is from all these preliminaries that, at that precise moment, impulses bombard the brain in an otherworldly pleasure and relaxation, to such an extent as to be able to enter another dimension, until a few seconds before, unknown.
Empathy.... A gift that we all have, it is only to be developed and appreciated deeply, and there is no better thing than to try this experience, initially through music and subsequently in direct application.
Craig Armstrong, in these twelve tracks of "The Space Between Us" succeeded in providing the perfect example of sentimental and expressive approach that can be created, developed, and shared between two beings, apparently hidden in their fear, shyness, and individual and human fragility.
The intersections of the musical lyrics, insightfully and microscopically, will then become part of our everyday gestures.
