An exceptional album to say the least, emphasizing the unmistakable black characteristics of the legendary Cradle of Filth as well as their multiple symphonic abilities crafted with a keyboard on a black base with a drum performance on the verge of collapse, yet very well thought out, just like the well-thought-out guitar riffs.
Speaking of the drummer... He left the band after contributing to the album "Lovecraft & Witch Hearts" and the live album "Live Bait for the Dead" and started working with Dimmu Borgir (another famous black metal band).
Unfortunately, in "Damnation and A Day" (the latest CoF CD), the absence of the drummer was very noticeable, who, in my opinion, was very, very good and technical... Perhaps one of the best around.
Returning to our beloved "Bitter Suites to Succubi"...
It is practically one of the most beautiful and symphonic albums in the Cradle of Filth discography.
It contains tracks that best characterize the band's sound, such as "Born in a Burial Gown," "Suicide and Other Comforts," and "The Black Goddess Rises II."
It also includes the cover of "No Time to Cry" by Sister of Mercy and the video for "Born in a Burial Gown" (of course, to be watched on the PC!).
Giving a final judgment after continuously praising this album seems a bit trivial, so I'll leave it to you to do so after listening to it.
I'm sure you'll like it.
(This has nothing to do with the review, but I went to see a review of the Burzum album: "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss." I agree with everyone that he's a Nazi, but music is also a means to express one's ideas... Right or wrong, but we must respect everyone... Without any political, religious, etc. distinction... I'm not revealing my judgment on Burzum, but I just wanted to say my piece!)
"Here I am to review this exquisite gem by Cradle of Filth, ... a fundamental band not only for the extreme scene but also for metal in general."
"The extraordinary remake (probably better than the original!) of 'Summer Dying Fast'... a romantic and diabolical orgy at the same time, difficult to explain, listen to believe."
