The greatest difficulty in cases like that of the Czech band Countless is managing to provide an overall impression based on just four tracks. The EP format is very popular nowadays, but perhaps because I consider myself fairly "old school" in terms of formats, I find that mini-albums are useful solutions for already established bands, certainly not for those — like them — who have a great need to present themselves to the general public with their artistic offering. This choice leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, given that what is expressed in the tracks of this "Coincidence" is of very good quality, especially for those who have followed (and continue to follow) the evolution of metalcore in recent years. Their offering is indeed very linear but definitely impactful: the sound structure of the tracks is well-calibrated between melodic parts of excellent quality and classic outbursts that blend with the screamo of the frontman, perhaps a bit too monotonous but certainly targeting the more agitated side of the Brno combo. Added to this is the most significant feature of this mini-album, namely the perfect vocal interpretation of the melodic parts, with a voice halfway between sweet and melancholic that completely breaks the reins of a game, until that moment, stifling in its extreme tones. "Time Will Tell," which greatly resembles Bring Me The Horizon from "Suicide Season," and "New Possibilities" are without a doubt the best episodes of this EP, highly recommended for those who consider metalcore their genre of reference.
