LA RECENSIONE

C.O.SKA Compagnia Orchestrina SKA Ferrara.
A new and interesting frontier of SKA, at the crossroads of funky, rock, folk, latin, and much more.
The result is a cheerful and irresistible music in which the highly melodic brass section complements a driving Hammond and Stratocaster, an unexpected drum, nice bass lines, well-measured percussion, and a powerful, leading voice. The lyrics are quite interesting, and along with the various musical styles mixed with ska, they manage to express a wide range of moods: the irony of "Gambero Killer", the melancholy of "Carmelo el Desperado", the anger of "Santi Numi",...

The tracks are 11, including 2 covers: an exceptional "4 marzo 1943" by Dalla, and a sufficient "Vado al Massimo" by the great Vasco; the choice of covers is a hint of the areas the members of this group come from: Emilia and more precisely Ferrara. I recommend you visit their website and listen to some tracks from their album (in mp3 on the site), this album is certainly at least curious and partly above the usual ska clichés!
Enjoy Listening.
