It is a time of strange discoveries, intellectual journeys in Central Europe, where one ventures randomly and emerges enriched. Taking advantage of the opportunities offered by a major metropolis in the heart of Europe, which offers dozens of concerts a week, all that remains is to select them solely and exclusively based on the instruments listed alongside the lineup, with the risk, sooner or later, of approaching something new and inviting.

Almost by chance, on a free evening, I listen to the performance of the Polish group "Contemporary Noise Quintet" composed of six eccentric musicians, whose only need is to know the names of the founders: the Kapsa brothers. The instrumentation consists of tenor sax, trumpet, guitar, bass, piano, and drums.

Their debut album "Pig Inside The Gentlemen" dates back to 2006 and is filled with interesting paths. Their music is a mix of jazz/noise, improvisation, and film music. But there is more. At times, a lively rock sound, other times melancholic and secretive.

The music is overall intense and pleasant, and the expressiveness of the individual instruments meets and creates an energetic groove (like the surprising "P.I.G.") that sometimes approaches a sense of vertigo. I highlight "Evil Melody", a bit Davis-like and "Army Of The Sun" which reminded me of Sonny Rollins.

10 instrumental tracks, very descriptive, Polish label, let's hope they continue like this.
