AKA In Memory Of A Summer Day

Unless you have the sensitivity of a doorknob, you might have experienced one of those days where everything goes normally as usual, the usual annoyances which, in themselves, is already a great thing, when at the end of the canonical 24 hours, often in the dead of night, you mentally make space for the summary of the day while, like scorned Dharma vagabonds, you wander around some music site in search of you-don’t-even-know-what.

You see a strange cover, intriguing in its own way, a castle among the clouds that looks like shisha smoke, a river crossed by a tiny minstrel, and you start to get curious. Then you read progressive acid folk, and things start to get more interesting. You continue because by now you're drawn in, and you arrive at masterpiece, and then deepening becomes a duty because you think, sure, right, the usual exaggeration, but who are they trying to fool.

Let's give it a chance also because by now you are determined to reel in this strange fish, and then you put on the headphones, and... let's go!

(Into The Land) That Time Forgot - 2.02 minutes of introduction that make you want to continue.

The Trip (Parts I & II) - 8.57 - Damn, it's the fish that's starting to pull you in and not the other way around as you thought.

From that point on, you stop reading the track titles, wanting to give judgments, opinions, but you simply no longer care about rationalizing and start a hypnotic journey made of sitar, tabla, flutes, mellotron, marimba, vibraphones, guitars, electric harpsichord, melodies that leave you breathless, the kind you wish would never end, you want more and more and more, you go into a loop of those things for which the word end should not exist.

A journey of the soul, of that inner child soul that we too often forget exists, each of us taking refuge in our own daily grind made of concrete things. Well, here the only concrete thing is the kaleidoscopic sound of this music craftsman Mr. Constantine Hastalis, a Greek transplanted to Chicago with this sole product to his name, played with the help of some friends on an LP with only 300 copies. (Later reissued by Guerssen).
