Perhaps I have found a remedy for the state I'm in in the morning, when that damn intermittent sound from the cell phone propels me to get ready and then be swallowed by that large building where I will spend 5 comatose hours of routine. I certainly wouldn't be able to shake off that sense of monotony and boredom that will accompany me for another couple of years until I catch a blurred glimpse of a future that these days seems increasingly unreachable.

I initially underestimated "Symptoms + Cures," the fourth album by Comeback Kid, a Canadian hardcore punk band that has emerged as one of the major acts in the genre in the new century. It must be said that after "Wake The Dead," the group suffered quite a bit from the change of singer with the mediocre (but not to be discarded) "Broadcasting...," and now the spotlight is on "Symptoms + Cures."

The album kicks off with a bang, the acceleration is at its peak, intense and genuine anger that can be noticed every single second. The excellent choruses stand out immediately, never so well-executed, which further heightens the emotional charge of the entire album.

A punch in the stomach delivered with all possible force, a bull charging at you without stopping and hurling you far away, a hurricane of unprecedented power that sweeps away everything in its path, leaving a desolate sense of helplessness. This is "Symptoms + Cures."
