Let's be clear right away: this is not an album but an EP (for those who don't know, it's something between a single and an album). Indeed, I was surprised at how short this work is. I would have expected a live album with at least fifteen songs, but no…
However, the little that is offered showcases the Coldplay for what they are, namely a good Pop Rock band that does its job well: entertaining the audience. The best track is "Clocks", which, unlike the studio version, is definitely more engaging and powerful, also a sign of the maturity gained by the group. The EP is also very well crafted in terms of sound, it really feels like being in the middle of the concert; there are no touch-ups here and there done in the studio to obscure the audience or enhance the sound or the singer’s voice (apart from some choruses). Overall, everything is quite engaging but it's really too short to get into the live spirit.
In conclusion, this is a small fragment of a Coldplay live show. I would have liked to hear something more, but since the album is downloadable for free from the Coldplay website if I were you, I'd give it a listen…
