An Austin, Texas group tied to the late-1960s psychedelic scene; founders Bill Miller and Tom McGarrigle recorded sessions in 1969 (Sonobeat) that surfaced decades later as the album Dark Shadows.

Founded in the Austin scene, the band recorded at Sonobeat studios in 1969. The original tapes/acetate remained rare until Rockadelic released them; the Rockadelic pressing was limited to 300 numbered copies.

A DeBaser review celebrates Cold Sun (also tied to the name Dark Shadows) as a late-1960s Austin psychedelic act whose 1969 Sonobeat sessions capture lysergic, desert-tinged rock that foreshadows stoner elements. The album Dark Shadows was issued by Rockadelic in a limited pressing.

For:Fans of 1960s psychedelic rock, collectors of rare vinyl, listeners of proto-stoner and desert-tinged rock.

"The sixties beatnik scene linked to peyote seemed to have always existed - it has been among the hippies since hippies existed and long before acid was invented. It was legal and could be bought in cactus shops or greenhouses. Things were much cooler then, before acid made its appearance." Bill Miller.
