Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson (born 1996 in Dublin), known as CMAT, is an Irish singer-songwriter. She began making music at 17, spent time in Manchester, returned to Dublin, dropped out of university, worked in a clothing store and set herself the task of writing a song a week. She signed with AWAL in 2022; her debut album If My Wife Knew I'd Be Dead earned the Choice Music Prize.

Declared influences include Katy Perry, Dolly Parton, and Johnny Cash. Crazymad, For Me shifts toward radio-friendly pop with a noticeable country influence. Themes across the album include relationships, sexuality, mental health, and self-care; the album has been presented as a loose concept about a middle-aged narrator attempting to change the past.

CMAT (Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson) shifts from indie-folk toward radio-friendly country-pop on Crazymad, For Me. Reviews highlight charm, self-irony, strong lyrics and a loose time-travel concept about relationships and self-care. Production is described as clean and balanced while keeping country influences. The record is praised for wit and vocal presence.

For:Fans of country-pop, witty singer-songwriters, listeners of Irish indie pop and concept albums about relationships.

Charm, irony, self-irony (which for me is synonymous with intelligence), charisma, wit, and, last but not least, voice.
