Whether it's due to the psychedelic digressions or the Japanese origin, the fact is that this experimental grindcore is likely to please the many dear acid mothers, and while inherently the sound goes straight to the point, hence my farthest judgment would describe it as a crappy album. Nevertheless, this debut from 1996 is an improbable collision between massive grind and blasts of rocknroll, psychedelia, and avant-gardism both in sound and form.
A lot of sonic violence in the service of meticulous execution of styles, tracks in cat's tongue format where classic rock often serves as a bridge between various firing squads; the entire listen is stuffed with various ornaments in a musical genre that now intrigues me only when, as in this case, the tracks present continuous changes of direction, tortuous ups and downs and not complete clarity.
Among the things, you find screams in a Patton-esque style, episodes that go hand in hand with the more extreme Naked City, screams on the edge of gore, chaotic mixes of feedback, samples, compass-less scatting that dance on grotesque bass slaps, and in general plenty of material for some good crate digging in this metal miasma. As far as I'm concerned, it ends up being relaxing in its precarious seriousness, a bit like lying back on a bed of shaving foam.
This album is the sound of a chaotic and alienating Tokyo soon to be not unlike depicted, personally I place it among my favorite listens in the genre.
